Operations Manager (2nd Shift)

SUMMARY: Performs duties as assigned by the Director of Distribution regarding all functions within the Processing Department, Packing Department, Shipping Receiving Department, Quality Control Department and NSB (Next Seasonal Buy) Department. This position may also fill in for the Assistance Director of Distribution in his/her absence. This job will be done by performing the following duties:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Plans daily operational activities based on work at hand plus anticipated new work.
Coordinate with Processing Supervisor, Packing Supervisor, Shipping Supervisor and QC Supervisor in the movement of associates within their departments to insure that orders are processed, packed and shipped correctly and in a timely manner.
Troubleshoot processing, packing and shipping problems by maintaining excellent communication channels with appropriate personnel in Savannah.
Maintain shipping tables (matching stores with correct carrier).
Supervise inbound and outbound accuracy audits.
Control both the processing and staging of new stores.
Coordinate with other members of management the movement of associates as they are needed in other areas of the operation.
Be mindful of budget restraints and act accordingly as expenses relate to three areas.
Plans staffing needs with Asst./Director of Distribution and requests new hires and temporary labor as needed.
Strong communication with all managers and associates regarding business and job requirements.
Brings issues to the attention of Asst./Director of Distribution and/or Human Resources as required.
Monitors attendance, punctuality, production rates and quality for each associate. Councils and corrects as needed.
Required to be able to use Excel and Word for different functions of the job.
Continually seek opportunities to improve processes or reduce costs associate with process.
Must be able to maintain a smooth operation; identify and help resolve different operational issues as that occur.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor degree and at least (3) years of management experience in a distribution environment or (5) years management experience in a distribution operation required. Strong familiarity with AS400 computer system, Island Pacific software, a retail warehouse management system (Manhattan would be ideal), and a pick or pack to light system.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and understand documents such as general correspondence, departmental reports and office procedures/memos. Ability to speak effectively with vendors and employees of the company.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
